Nefertiti Pin-Up Girl 2.0

I did this piece originally for a school assignment but it was required to be in
black and white. Since I have time now I decided
it would be interesting to see it in color.

Scarlet Tanager

Sorry for the over load of birds;
I'm still trying to experiment and figure out the
process of coloring pieces that feels comfortable to me and looks the way I want it to
So far I've been very happy with the way these
are coming out.
I have some non vignette, non bird pieces that I
really want to work on, so look for those soon!

Today I decided to do a quick little painting.
I'm not used to painting birds and I have a piece that I will be working
on soon that has one in it, so I figured
I'd test it out with this guy.

Bird Sketches

I started doing a weekly bird sketch.
Since there are so many of them out there I figured
why not draw some!

Oil Study

We had four 3 hour class sessions to paint from the model
for Kams class this semester.
I really enjoy painting from the model in class, its fun and relaxing.
Her arm was at an awkward angle so I just mostly concentrated on her face
and the ribbon.
This semester my mentor suggested a different color combination
for skin tones so I tried working with those.
They seemed to work well for me so I'll probably be using that
combination from now on!

for the first time last night and
sketched 20 min poses for almost 12 hours.

definitely try and go next year it was a lot of fun.
Here are most of my drawings from the night!

Sketch Night at SOI- Minnie Tonka

Went to my first "Sketch Night" at the
Society of Illustrators last night
with two of my lovely friends.
It was really relaxing, had good music,
and the models were great!
I'm definitely going back soon.
